Yep they do.
It is like when people try to say Nico's name like the beginning of Nick in English instead of with an Nee-

I always say Edith not with a -dith at the but a -dit.
Say as Ruth would be said like Root so not with a -th

You are right about Nico but I do actually say Nee : ) Ah, I have heard people say Edith that way, I do prefer it prounced that way. I do not think I've heard Ruth said that way : )

I'm pleased you say it that way :)

In German that is how we say Ruth
