I knew the gender so I went with purple mostly for my daughters and some pink.

Yes. We didn't find out with our first. It was nice because everything he got could be used for girl or boy, swing, high hair, exasuacer, rocknplay, clothes, blankets, etc.
now pregnant again, I don't need anything.

His newborn stuff was because we didn't know his gender. But there's not much available for gender neutral in older infant clothes, so after like 3 months it was mostly more masculine patterns and colors.

We have some gender neutral stuff but now that we know we are having a boy after 4 girls!!!! I am buying the most obviously boyish clothes I can get my hands on!

Clothes? I buy what I like. My husband wear a pink shirt the kids can wear pink. It is only a colour

I have 3 boys. I always found it harder to get something without racecars, dinosaurs, or boats on it. I stuck with primary colors

I had both gender neiutral and  colors for the gender.

I didn't vote because I am not sure what items you would be referring to.  Mainly all of DD's items are gender specific I guess???  I mean she has blues, blacks, pinks, red, green.  It just depends on the item.
