My son is 10 months old and  taking 2 to 3 naps still during the day. What is a good way to break them of naps?he has a morning nap then sometimes 2 in the afternoon. One is in the late afternoon around 5 or 6 so thats to close to bedtime. If I keep him up he is just so cranky I have to let him sleep. What do you guys do to keep your litte ones entertained?I would love for him to get down to one afternoon nap a day.

My DD still takes 2 naps a day. She's almost 13 months. If you are needing to break him of the 3rd nap, you could move the timing around by a half hour on each sleep time. Morning nap at 9:30, afternoon nap at 2:30 or 3:00 even, and maybe an earlier bedtime possibly 7:00? I don't know how else to change his sleep pattern though. I had just always went with my daughter's cues-if she was sleepy I let her sleep; but I always stayed as close to her normal schedule as possible. Here is a sleep chart from Parents.com Hope that helps.

10 months is a little young to be having 1 nap a day. My dd is 17 months and just recently switched to 1 nap a day. I know it might be more convenient for you....but.....poor baby!

my daughter is 17 months and just started to take one a nap day. she wakes up between 7:30 and 8:30. she will take her nap around 11:30 and sleep til about 1:30 or so. by 6 she is sleepy but i let her take a long bath and this takes about 30 to 45 mins. you can find things to do to preoccupy them. but i would wait until after a year or so to try to cut out a few naps. you may find that he will do that on his own. my girl did. she just didnt want that afternoon nap anymore.

My daughter has been taking one nap a day since she was 9 months old.  She watches some cartoons in the morning, then we get down on the floor for some tummy time, or some bouncing time in her jumper.  Then she eats lunch.  She usually sleeps 2-3 hours then doesn't sleep again until 830 or 9... sometimes 10!!!!  And she is usually up by 730-8

My son was on 2 naps a day untill he was around 13 or 14 months...and i miss it!!  He's 9 months now and takes one nap a day.  That one nap is usually 2-3 hours though.  But he switched his nap schedule all on his own.  One day insted of taking a nap around 11 or so he stayed up until 2 and slept until 4:30.

My daughter used to do that when she was about that age. She would get up about 930 and then take a nap anywhere between 11 and 12 and she would get up about 2 or so and then at 5 she was ready to go back to bed and she went to bed between 8 and 9 but she eventually grew out of that and she only takes 1 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon and goes to bed between 7 and 730. So maybe yours will grow out of it too. I hope so for your sake!! Good Luck!
