Ok so I start school today and need to leave the house at 4:00. I have amde arragements for my neighbor to watch my 3 month old son. She is 14 but her parents are going to be home and she can always come up here if she needs to use his swing. It is only for an hour and half 2 times a week. Well I did my Math wrong and said that I would do $40 a week. Well I was thinking $20 a week which is $7 an hour. Well I feel really bad if I say something like sorry I did the math wrong. What should I do? Should I tell her that I made a mistake and I want to pay her $7 an hour or should I just pay her $40 a week which I can't really afford? HELP!
If you can't afford 40 a week you just can't. You have to be honest about it b/c it will only hurt you in the end. I would suggest if you can afford it offer 25-30 a week. Going down half might not look too good to the girl. Just explain to her how you did us, so and so amount comes out to be so much an hour. Be honest and upfront about you doing your math wrong, and I am sure her and her parents will be understanding.

Best thing to do is sit them down and talk to them about it BEFORE her "payday". I'm sure they'll be understanding and if they're not, you wouldn't want your baby being watched by someone selfish like that anyway.
Explain to her that you meant 40 every time you pay her, which will be every other week. She probably wont mind. $20 for 3 hours of work (well, play) is still really good for a 14 year old. I do agree that 14 is too young to watch an infant, but if her parents will be home, it makes a big difference.
