MY DAUGHTER IS 11 MONTHS OLD AND HAS BEEN ON ANTIBIOTICS FOR ABOUT 2O DAYS FOR A EAR INFECTION AND SHE HAS RECENTLY GOTTEN A RASH ON HER "CUPCAKE" AND MY BABY SITTER SAID IT WAS A YEAST INFECTION..... I CALLED THE DOCTOR BUT THE NURSE MADE ME LEAVE A MESSAGE AND I WAS TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME BACK...NEEDLESS TO SAY NO ONE HAS... AND I KNOW ITS BOTHERING HER CUZ SHES SCRATCHING HER DIAPER AND WHEN I TAKE THE DIAPER OFF SHE TRIES TO SCRATCH...DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO SOOTHE HER UNTIL I REACH A DOCTOR???? IF YOUR A WOMAN YOU KNOW THIS CAN NOT BE COMFORTABLE ESPECIALLY TO AN 11 MONTH OLD....THANKS IN ADVANCE
I actually work at a child care center... if you go to the store and get lotramin (it's an anit fungal cream will probably say something about athletes foot on it) and apply it a couple times a day it should help to relieve it... also feeding her lots of yogurt will help it clear up sooner as well and prevent it in the future... hope this helps and your little one feels better soon!
I must be one of the lucky ones when ever my babies have been on meds. and this happened all we had to do was call the doctors office and they would call in Nystatin for the yeast infection> I also gave them yogurt juice and the baby food yogurt if they were still on formula at that time. They also told me to put pure constarch powder on after aplying the med. I feel so sorry for her and for you hope she gets to feeling better soon.

Well i never had that problem... but i remember how after giving birth i itched from the pads having to use them for so long (not an infection, i had asked just itching)... well i used baby diaper rash cream which stopped the itching. So maybe try that. If anything it sure won't hurt her. Good luck!
antibiotics are known to cause internal yeast infections. Yogurt is the best way to get rid of a yeast infection. Otherwise doctors prescribe another medicine to counteract the antibiotics. If it is not an internal yeast infection and it is strictly an outer yeast infection then she is probably getting too wet. this may sound weird but if their is moisture on that area too long then she can get that down there. My mother always told us never to wear wet shorts after water skiing for too long because of this. Might sound crazy but let her air out a while. This also is a good way to get rid of any diaper rash.
Nystatin worked for my son. Yes, boys do get yeast infections too.

exactly what I was gonna say....plus my oldest son used to get them often too. mostly during the summer. letting him run naked most the time helped a lot. it just sucked cuz he wasn't potty trained yet so there were messes to keep up with too

My son had them under his arms when he was a few months old and the dr gave him some meds to clear it up but it didnt work very well. His amrpits smelled really bad like an adults bo. Then it cleared up durring the winter months but when it started to get warm again he started to smell again so I just washed his armpits a few times a day and kept them dry. I know this isnt much help because it is in a different area.
