so I had an ultrasound yesterday

I am 30 weeks and at my last appt the Dr said my belly was measuring small so he wanted to check the babies weight and measurements to make sure he was on track. So i had my u/s yesterday and all of his measurements are 2 weeks ahead and he is already 4 lbs and 6oz. according to the u/s. so I know that sometimes the weights are off and everything but I was just curious if anyone else had a u/s or had thier baby around 30 weeks and how much their babies weighed? I'm thinking i'm farther along than 30 weeks. My original due date was 12/17 and then got changed to 1/5. My Dr was shocked when he saw that he was already 4lbs too! but said everything looked great.

Something to keep in mind about ultrasounds is that they are not an exact science, they are just estimates... same with due dates.  They can be very valuable tools in helping you to have a healthy pregnancy, but its important to not rely on them too much.  With my first they said he was a small baby... all 9 pounds of him :)  My second they said was average, which was true, and my third was supposed to be a monster and she was my tiny baby.

Congrats on the pregnancy!

Cool- congrats! I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you, I"m only 13w6d, but usually the EARLIER dating is more accurate than later in pregnancy, according to my doc.

i dont know if i can belive those machines any more, my u/s aslways say that my baby is on target but then when the doctors palpate my belly they say the baby is big for his gestation. Yet when i had my son ( 31 weeks) they said he would weigh well over 3 pounds, he was 2 pounds 15 ounces.

so i go by the doctor not the u/s.

good luck momma i wouldnt worie too much!

I started with my dd being about the 20th of Dec and when we had the u/s they changed it to the 9th based on the measurements but I had that u/s at 10 weeks to check because I always have a period after I get pregnant sometimes it is just one month with Katie it was like 6 months. I didn't believe that I was pregnant with her until the u/s and then the whole birth thing lol. But at my 20 week u/s the due date was still the 9th. Even though the baby was a little bigger than they thought and I am measuring about 2 weeks bigger than average. Also, I have to have a C-section and they do not care if I go into labor a little ealy because I wanted thebaby to be in a month of his own if possible, But if I go into labor then the baby will come if not the baby will be on the 2nd. I would not worry about it because if the baby is big then you might go early or around the first due date. As long as the baby is healthy.

I got an ultrasound at 29 weeks with dd and she was measuring 2 weeks ahead at 4lbs. But she was not a big baby she was 6lbs 9oz at 40weeks. My doctor was way more accurate than the ultrasound he guessed her to weigh 6lbs 8oz when i was in labor.

I am having twin boys and the specialist group i see does regular weight check via ultrasound on the boys and they are both measuring 2 weeks ahead of their due date!! People say the u/s can be off by half a pound either way. As long as your little one is healthy and all looks good, that's the most important part! Heck my sister-in-law had my nephew at 10lbs and 7oz!

My last u/s was done at 31 weeks 3 days - and according to the u/s my little one only weighed 3lbs 2oz. However - she had a large head and most likely she's going to be a long baby (seeing as how DH is like 6 ft 3in and I'm a shorty at 5 ft 2.5in). I have heard that if your baby is from a "tall family" and if there is a possibility that the baby will be "tall" then the weight can show lower and can be lower at birth. Like others have said though - the u/s isn't accurate on weight. It can be off 1/2 lb either way, I believe. My doctor wasn't worried about how much the u/s said my baby weighed because I'm gaining weight like I should - so baby should be too. I wouldn't worry about the weight that the u/s said honestly.

And as far as how your stomach is measuring - I think (I could be wrong) that it depends on how you are carrying the baby and what not...I think.
