I had my 36 week appointment today. I am 1 cm dialated and 80 percent effaced. And my Dr. could feel his head. My Dr. took a lot of time checking me and it hurt more thn it ever has. How do they strip your membranes? Can they strip then without telling you? Now im having back pain and period cramps. Im neasous and have been having frequent loose bowel movements. TMI. And ive lost my plug. how much time do you GUESS i have left?

  • You could go into labor tonight or maybe not for another few weeks. Losing your mucus plug is not necessarily an indication of labor.

  • Wow- what your doc did to you was violate you.  I'm sorry. =(   I hope he/she did not strip your membranes {although it sounds like it} because baby is no where near ready enough.  Hopefully labor will not begin for at least a few more weeks.

  • I will pray that you don't go into labor yet.  This is your first right?  You could *possibly* be having braxton hicks now.. but sounds more like you are in early stages of labor.  I hope and pray you and baby will be ok and baby is ready to come, just incase.

  • oh gosh i heard of docs doing it without asking all the time. thats why i never been checked. if my midwife would have checked me at my 39th week appt, she would probably poped my water a couple days earlyer than DS was born. lol. i had him 39 wks 2 days. i hope you are doing ok. good luck!!!

oh yea... as of right now you are considered full term, so dont worry too much. k? if your LO does have problems (which right now it is very very slim almost none) it may only be the lungs not fully developed, which after its here will only take a couple day to finish. no worried. GOOD LUCK!!

  • Since when is 36 weeks full term?  He/She may very well be 6 weeks early.

OP:  Drink some water and try to relax and don't do anything strenuous for a couple days.  Hopefully things will subside and baby will stay put. =)

  • you sound like you feel right after i had my membrane swept... it sucks. i had mine done at my 35th week and was 2 cm dialated and 90% efaced and still didnt have my son till 6 days before my due date.... it's really up in the air... but drink some water and lay down... if you're not feeling better after a while call your doc

  • yes they can and that;s probably what he did. who knows.. you can have labor symptoms pretty much your whole pregnancy and still go overdue.
