So yesterday i had a doctors appointment and my baby is measuring 7 and a half pounds already. Im only 36 weeks so my doctor decided that in 2 weeks we are going to induce. I cant wait to meet my baby but im a little worried about inducing.  Has anyone else been induced? Can u share some positive stories? I just want to know what to expect. Thanx!

I was induced at 38 weeks with my daughter due to pregnancy induced hypertension. But i was 1cm when i went in a they did the cervadill over night and i woke up and i took a shower and then they started the pitocin and broke my water and i labored for 7 hours and pushed for 15 minutes and had a healthy 8lb1.6oz baby girl! But honestly a doctor shouldn't induce 2 weeks early because they think the baby is at a good weight.. and plus if your not dialated any then my doctors told me the induction most likely wont work.

I don't really understand why you're being induced if not for a medical problem???

i asked to be induced a week early from my due date. i went in the morning around 7am, they broke my water @9am, i tried to get the epidural but i was dialating so far it didnt work, so i went basically natural,i pushed 3 times, i had my second  daughter @around 11am, i cant believe i had her so fast, i was in labor with my first for 5 hrs, i hear the more kids u have the faster the labor. every woman is different.

they arent inducing me yet. by the time they induce me i will be 38 weeks. but im still a little worried. i just am worried the baby wont be ok. the reason my doctor doesnt want to wait til my due date is bcuz we might have to do a c-section and i have anemia and low blood count and he is afraid i might bleed out alot more if they were to do one instead of me doing it all natural.

I was induced for a few reasons one being I had VERY low water level which is bad for the baby,,,,,,, Ok so being induced I think is NOT as bad as people make it.... Everything went so well for me my son was healthy when he came out. I was in labor for 12 hours because my cervix was not opening then I went into the bath tub at 1147 stayed then for about an hour then went back to bed and at 147pm my son was born....

GOOD LUCK

38 weeks is still kinda early unless medically needed but why are they afraid they'll have to do a c section??? and i had severe anemia while pregnant with my daughter i was taking extra iron pills everyday.

I was indueced with all three of mine, all for medical resons.  I say hold off.  7 lbs at 36 weeks in not a bad thing.  I wish I could have let my babies come on their own, in their time.  There is nothing wrong with waiting.  I know you are excited but the time will come and mama you need this time to rest and get ready.

What is your doctor having you do to improve your health?   Can you continue to work on that so you can avoid induction?   Most inductions are fine, it all works out, but they do add a lot of risks.   If you can avoid those risks it would be healthful to you and baby.  I understand you're weighing risks, that is important!   But maybe you can eliminate the issue altogether, or at least try a spontaneous labor.

My induction for my first baby was non-medical.   It was a hard experince.   I am grateful to have gone through it though because it led me on a path of seeking birth knowledge.   I know now that it was unnecessary, I worked very hard with my next baby's birth as a "do over."   I feel like I needed to "fix" my mistake.   I needed to have a better experience.   So I would urge you to see what you might do to avoid induction for your health & the baby's, but also for the sake of the most satisfaction, overall.

If you do end up inducing, you might consider having a birth doula to support you through.   Good luck!   :-)

I was induced with my first electively.  But I was 39 weeks and had favorable bishop's scores.  It went well and I won't hesitate to be induced again in the future.
