  • primose oil caplets &
  • enemas

I seen these two things on another website. the primose oil caplets they said helps soften the cervix. and enemas causes the bowels to contract and could cause the uterus to contract, which will open and efface the cervix.

obviously the first one is a caplet you take. but what is enemas? ive never heard of either of these before. not that i plan on trying them or anything. but im just wandering what they are or if anyone else has heard of them/done them. these ladies are swearing by these two things...but its an old post so i know if i replied to it asking about it, it probably wouldnt get answered.

  • and enema is a liquid in an applicator which you insert into your anus and then expel the liquid. it makes you have to poop and is often used for severe constipation.

i am a proud mommy of 1 ornery 1 year old little boy and one very goofy 4 year old little girl, ive been married for 2 years, together for almost 5. fun loving, eco-friendly, creative, different strokes work for different folks, stay at home and work at home mommy!

  • Yah.   But as pregnant, I have used them both and don't feel that they really work similarly.

The enema is like shower out the rectum.    It floods the stool and that softened stool comes out easily, like diarrhea.

With castor oil, the intestines are contracting more violently, like a uterine contraction.   I also describe it as projectile vomiting (out the other end) because of the intensity and force.   (That intestinal contracting stimulates the uterine contractions.)

  • Evening Primrose ripens the cervix and prepares it for labor and birth.  I take 6 capsules a day starting at 36 weeks.  It does not induce you.  It helps the cervix soften over time.  I took it with my last baby, and my labor was 4 hours instead of 8-12 as with my others.

I think the enema has been explained sufficiently.  I've not had one.

  • Some hospitals ask that you have an enema before you come to deliver the baby so you don't poop on the delivery table, but there is no way I would have one done for that reason.
