Couldn't hear it...

I went to the dr today...for a general check up. I'm 14 weeks and I couldn't hear the heartbeat. The dr kept saying that the baby is moving and that is why she couldn't get it for me...Kept saying that the little woosh sound was it moving away from the sound waves of the doppler. With my other two kids there was never an issue hearing the heart...so even with the dr's assurance that all is okay, I'm still concerned. She didn't schedule a sooner appointment...doesn't seem to be a big deal.

But, I am still worried. And I guess what I'm wanting to know is has anyone else not heard the heartbeat and then find it at the next visit?

That has actually happened to me a 2 of my appts. that early it can also be hard to hear if the baby is facing backward (or so I have heard)

that has happened to a few of my friends and both had healthy babies so I would try not to worry too much, I know it is so easy for me to say, keep us posted though!!

That can happen really easily, don't stress out.  Baby is very active that's a wonderful thing :)

That's happened to me whenever we try to hear the heart beat. You hear it for a second and then the baby moves so we can't get it again..

Thanks for the input :). I was stressed earlier...but hearing others have had it happen to them helps...a LOT...I was about ready to cry when she couldn't find it.

Just will keep doing what I can to bring a healthy baby into the world...and HOPE that next month things will be better and it will let me hear it...if I don't start feeling it before then :).

That is very common. If you doctor was concerned at all she would have ordered an ultrasound to check the heartbeat. I've had times where they checked for 5 minutes before getting the heartbeat, but the whole time the dr could tell the baby was moving. Now when he checks for it the baby always moves but I can actually feel her now so it's not as worrisome. Don't worry mama!

It happend to me at my last appt. My doc went and got the u/s machine to find it. I'm guessing since the doc could hear the woosh sound it was a clear indication everything was fine, but I would feel uncomfortable with just that too.

That happened to me at 14 weeks too.  The Dr. said the baby was facing the wrong direction and therefore it was hard to hear the heart beat.  I had an appointment today and the heart beat was strong and loud.  So don't worry yourself :)  I bet you will hear your baby at the next appointment.  I was worried too, it's hard not to.

the same happend to me about 3 weeks ago. i was 15 weeks then.  It took the doc a good 15 min to find the heart beat. For some reason my baby girl likes to cram herself way down into my pelvis and chill there. i was a little scared because thats what us prego women do. We all want the best for our babies. But it is still early and there is alot of room still for you LO to "swim" around. i would not be too worried just yet. when is your next US?
