So I ended up in the ER yesterday because I woke up and my belly was gone and I couldnt feel the baby move. So I go in and they get out the doppler to find the heart beat. So she puts it on the right side of my belly, she finds the heart beat... its between 160 and 169 then she moves to the left side and its 140 - 145. Ummm I am only suppose to be having 1 baby. When I asked the nurse about it she was like I dont know I guess you will find out at your appointment on Friday and walked out of the room. I am not sure what to think. What would you think? Oh and yes the baby is fine. They couldnt tell me why my belly was suddenly flat but the baby sounded good.

So I went to my Dr.s appt. today. She said she only hears one. She scheduled my big ultra sound for Tuesday. So we will know for sure and we will find out the sex!! I am so excited and cant hardly wait!!!

I am almost 19 weeks. They said the baby was completely normal sounding. I just wonder why I heard 2 heart beats.

could be that they actually caught the echo off of your ribs-that's all doppler is, sound waves bouncing around until something catches them...

Well I'm having twins and dopplers are not the best thing to use when tracking them.  You get so many sounds from them moving in there, plus their  heartbeats and yours its a tough call to go by dopplers.  Usually you would get an US for twins.  Have you not had one yet? You are far along.  They should of done one in the ER at least to make sure everything was ok.  Thats odd that all they did was a doppler.

Hmmm.. that is odd.  The tummy disappearing thing... I totally understand that, it may be because I wasn't tiny to begin with but up until about 21 weeks it came and went sometimes.  For the heartbeat- they've always just found mine in one area, not two, which makes me think twins.  But this is my first baby so I''m not the most experienced girl here :)

Maybe the nurse was wrong... or I've heard of them being so close that sometimes you can't tell it's 2 until they all of a sudden seperate or you see an ultrasound.  Good luck on Tuesday- I love ultrasounds and seeing the baby is the best!!!

GL! Its hard to see if its twins by Doppler only because you can get echo's of the mothers heart and the blood pumping in a placenta. When they think they have Riley's HB they don't they always get the placenta due to where Riley is But Reece is no problem but Riley gives them plenty of problems haha I think I have a wild baby and a calm baby which is going to be interesting because Larissa is also calm .

My belly shifts a LOT one day I look way smaller than the day before. Its all about how the baby is laying (for me anyway :O)..)
