ok so i am almost thirty seven weeks. im having a girl and this is my first pregnancy. a few weeks ago i started getting backaches and assumed it was normal. yesterday it got a lot worse especially last night. the pains in my back are extremely painful>
the pain is up by where my ribs are and it shoots straight up my back> its a constant pain
and when i move the wrong way or turn or even sometimes when i just burp lol it causes a sharp searing pain
it is so bad to the point where i cannot sit or stand or move without extreme pain
i did go to the er last night to be sure it wasnt back labor they said i wasnt dilated and i wasnt having contractions
they didnt know what it was they assume just the way the baby is laying
anyone have any other ideas?
also if anyone can tell me how contractions feel????? i dont have a clue lol
and any way i can induce myself?
i was thinkin about castor oil but havent decided

idk u can have back labor without having regular contractions (i think) thats what i sounds like to me. i have heard of lots of walkin and sex to help the baby come but if the baby is not ready then it wont  help anything and i have heard people say storys about castrol oil but alot people ive heard say all it did was put them on the toilet. hopefully all goes well. have a great night :)

Back labor would be felt lower than that. I'd go to a chiropractor if I were you. I go regularly and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. My headaches/migraines, and back problems are so much lesser since I've been going. I should have gone today but didn't have time. :-(

I wouldn't try to induce so early. Really nothing will work until your body and baby are ready for labor. Hang in there mama. It will all be over soon!

There is another possibility, so I'd ask about it.

When pregnant women are more prone to both Kidney Stones and Gallstones.  With my son I had BOTH.  The Gall Stones....or Gallbladder "attacks" felt like horrible pains in my back near where my ribs are.  It would come on and sometimes last hours.  No position helped, and sometimes I felt like I couldn't breathe.  I would sit on the toilet rocking as it was the only thing that helped slightly....crying I was in so much pain.

I went to the ER twice during my pregnancy and to L&D twice with this pain.  I had X-rays, MRI's and other work done.  And they could never figure it out, they would give me lortab and send me home.  However at one ER when I had the MRI, the MRI tech wrote "GALL STONES" on the film, but the moron doctors just acted like it wasn't there.

I loved with the attacks through most of my pregnancy and 6 months after until after one night of hell I was at work and a co-worker said "Sounds like Gall stones" I called my doctor that day I said "I think I have gallstones" they sent me for an ultrasound and requested the MRI from my pregnancy.  The ultrasound and MRI showed my gallbladder was a solid mass of stones, and I was scheduled to have it removed the very next day it was so severe.

Now I live with a side effect of occassional stomach cramps and dairrhea from not having my gallbladder....not all who have it removed have this side effect.  It's called Bile Salt Diarrhea, and for years it was a daily thing for me, now I have it maybe 1-2 times a month, but that is a small price to pay for not having those horrible attacks anymore.

My first guess is baby's position.   Did they palpate your belly recently?   Baby she is maybe finding the right place to get settled for labor.   Induction would be bad if this were the case, making it harder and longer for baby and you!       :-(

You should investigate your options with the chiropractor, imo.  When I go, it is hell relieved instantly or almost immediately~   SOOOO worth it!

There are other things to help you like acupressure, acupuncture, massage, essential oils, soak in the tub, etc.     It's like you are practicing for labor.   ;-)

But it might be nice to not have to deal with this pain if you don't have to.

You want to induce because you are uncomfortable.   Makes sense!   Except, baby is not ready to be born (or you would have been in labor already!).   So, when putting baby first, as top-priority, we moms do what we can to get through, protecting our babies health & safety.     Finding ways to ease your pains will help baby have a better experience (and you, too!).

Also to be considered, a first-time mom averages 41 weeks, 1 day of pregnancy.
If you are 36 weeks you might have a ways to go yet.   ;- /       Besides the estimated due date is the mid-point in the average 4-week due period (38-42 weeks).

Castor oil is risky and not pleasant.   Most of all, like most "home remedies" it won't work unless you're already teetering on the brink of labor anyway.    Since you're probably a ways from that, it is just unnecessary risks...
It was much worse than labor, imo.

Good luck!
