So, I'm packing my hospital bag and it's taking every ounce of my being to not pack the entire house. I'm wondering what you actually used while you were there and what kind of packer you were. If you packed light, did you find yourself needing more than you brought? If you packed heavy, how much did your SO complain packing it all back up again- lol?
I hardley used anything at all from my bag. I wore my pajama pants, and changed my underwear and socks. I did not shower at the hospital for I went home 26 hours after I checked in. I went home in my PJs. Also, I had a very quick labor, so I didn't do any snacks or breathing into bags, etc.

i packed 2 sets of clothes my go home clothes and my day after c-section clothes and the babies clothes shampoo deorderant tooth brush the take home baby outfit and that was it i forgot a blanket and binkies so my hubby ran home for me and got those but i everything i took i used
Slippers, nightgowns, I only took a pair of underwear to wear home b/c you bleed so heavy they have you wearing these great big pad with netted underwear like things. One very loose outfit to where home. Hair brush and toothbrush. That was pretty much it for me

underwear, pjs or sweats, toothbruch, baby clothes, carseat, passy... camera, my own personal hygeine items i didnt like the hospitals.
i ate the hospital food since dh couldnt bring me anything i was admited on a monday and left wed. he did bring me subway the second day i was starving now that i think about it.
i had a csection and they wouldnt help me in or out of the shower and it was a pretty big step and dh had to work so i just washed the best i could with a wash cloth.
I packed a bunch of stuff and found I had way too much.
All I needed was shampoo/conditioner/body wash/razor.
Toothbrush/toothepaste
Makeup if you really think you'll feel the need to put it on, I know I didn't
Change of clothes to go home in, make sure they're baggy. I think they generally say to bring clothes you wore when you were 6 months pregnant. lol
And clothes for baby to go home in
The one thing I did not have that I wish I did was a nursing bra. that's if you're going to be nursing.
besides that I didn't use anything else. my hospital provided everything I needed and I really didn't feel like wearing my own clothes, although I would have been able to, the hospital gowns were just easier.
I was such a pain in the @$$ and packed a whole bunch of stuff. My boyfriend didn't really complain about anything until we start talking about having another baby and he asks me not to pack so much next time. I really only used one outfit, a jacket, 3 pairs of panties, 2 nursing bras, disposable nursing pads, nipple cream, hair binders, a pillow from home, chapstick, soap, shampoo, conditioner, tooth brush, deoderant, tooth paste, hairbrush, lotion, concealer (I have dark circles under my eyes which only got worse during the whole labor thing), a deck of cards/a game, flip flops, 2 baby outfits, 2 receiving blankets, paci, a baby jacket/suit, an empty diaperbag (which I filled with hospital stuff), a camera, and a car seat. I honestly think that was probably all. Once my daughter came nothing else really mattered.
i was pretty basic: a nursing bra/tank, nightgown, comfy going home clothes, going home outfit for baby, and my makeup bag with all my toiletries. i hate the hospiyal soap/lotion/shampoo. its like detergent! i used all of it. i never packed any labor things, like, pics for focal points or anything. i wouldnt have used them anyway!
I packed only the necessary things and well with the exception of my belly ring and make-up but forgot to packa hair dryer and clothes for dh lol this time I'm packing books and telling everyone that will be in the waiting room to bring something to do my dh and dad watched Pirates of the Caribbean 5 times lol in 12 hrs lol I'm also telling dh he's NOT allowed to bring his cigarettes because they'll have to leave the hospital to smoke and I don't want to have to track him down when its time to push. Don't forget the car seat baby clothes and whatever else you want to pack I also packed my own shampoo and body wash
