Ok, so I call my OB's office today for swollen, puffy feet. I'm freaking out, thinking I might have pre-eclampsia.
Here's the weird part. I was off today and being kind of a lazy bum (I only did 1 load of laundry and took out the trash and vacuumed, but the kitchen and dishes could've been done, bathrooms could've been cleaned...) but didn't do much else except sit with DD and watch movies and color and draw. Well, my feet puffed up so badly that I couldn't wiggle my toes, so DH said to call. I did, and they told me to go to OB Triage @ the hospital down the street. So I take 3 year old DD and go.
Long story short, Mom has to come meet me because they won't even let DD into the lobby because of the flu crap, next door neighbor drops DH @ hospital and takes our DD to McDonalds. ALL lab work came back normal, and I get sent home. I don't have pre-eclampsia but the swelling won't go down, even when I elevate my feet.
What do I do now? I'm not due for another month... (I do have an appt. on Wednesday this coming week, so we'll see...)
You wouldn't think it, but moving around will actually help the swelling go down. I know they always tell you to elevate your feet, but if you've been doing nothing all day and your feet are swollen, you should get up and walk around for a while. I exercised all during my last pregnancy and my ankles didn't swell until my last month of pregnancy, and even then it wasn't as bad as when I was pregnant with my son (when I didn't exercise at all). Drink lots of water and move around a bit if you've been sitting a while. It could also be that you are so far along in your pregnancy that your body is retaining water and there's nothing you can do about it until baby is born.
I am having same issue but its weird my huge foot is on the right side and I mean HUGE it hurts so bad to walk I wish it would just explode and get it over with . I seen the DR for it the other day and she was like your fine BP is fine go home lol I went and bought epson salt tonight cant wait to get in the bath and relax for awhile but for the next few minutes my foot is up on a pillow praying it goes down a lil bit good luck hun I pray this goes away for you
i have 6 days left til my due date and i have had "shrek feet" for the last two months! you are pregnant honey....you are retaining more fluid than the average woman. as long as the swelling doesn't move dramatically into your hands and face.....feel lucky! my fingers are slightly swollen but nothing compared to my feet! lol it bothered me in the beginning, but now i just try to wear pants that covers it with my flip flops, because "normal" shoes are out of the question! if you can go swimming, the pressure from the water will help move the fluid from your feet, but basically it's there until you deliver!
Wow....I'm sorry, but you went to the hospital because your feet are swollen???? Talk about major over reaction. Your whole body will swell up because during pregnancy you retain water. There's not much you can do other than drink a lot of water, try some raspberry leaf tea, and wait until you have your baby.

i just went through this w/ my feet! just one foot was really puffy, although i could still move my feet. they sent me for an ultrasound of my entire left leg...from groin to ankle. they were checking for clots since it was just the one foot. everything came back fine. i just attributed it to probably not getting enough fluids. the doc recommended wearing support hose. This pregnancy, i have not had any other issues with being swollen. with my dd, however, as soon as i hit the 4th month mark, i was swollen til i gave birth to her---feet, ankles, hands. but my BP was always just fine. if your BP goes up, along with the puffiness, that means pre-e, pretty much. you're almost there, hang on!!
actually, suddenly becoming swollen like that is a sign of pre-e....one of my co-workers went to the doc with this and ended up w/ an emergency csection! her BP was also high when they checked....better safe than sorry to get it checked out :)

This happened to me yesterday.. I was so lazy yesterday and I could tell my feet were a little more swollen.. I started to swell a few months ago but not too much just a little bit and yesterday I could tell I was a little more swollen.. And last night whenever my fiance and I went to the movies and I stayed sitting for that whole 2 hours I could feel my feet swell BIG time.. I mean they doubled in size.. I cant feel my ankle bones or anything they got HUGE!! And the only thing that made the swelling go down some was walking and staying on my feet so today I have been on my feet all day.. Doing laundry, washing dishes, vacumming, cleaning, and just anything else I can do because staying on my feet is the only thing keeping the swelling down and I'm also due in a month(December 25th) but I'm having her the 14th..
Thats how it was with me.. My last pregnancy I didnt swell until about the last 2 weeks maybe.. Yes I swelled SOME but it wasnt near as much as most people and no where NEAR as much as I have already started swelliing with this one and I still have a month left.. But this pregnancy I dont work out near as much as I did with my son I do some walking but thats about it. But take your little one to the park tomorrow and just walk around some..

I didn't swell up hardly at all with my first one until I was at the hospital, IN labor! Lol. My DH and I are just trying to be careful becasue my job isn't exactly understanding of the fact that I'm due in a month and still work full time, on my feet all day... It annoys him more than it does me.
I dont know about poster But I have to see my Dr if I swell up I am VERY high risk I am OBESE and Have diabetes I take 2 insulins and I started bleeding at 11 weeks so when I have changes like one side swelling or Big time swelling the Dr wants my happy butt in right away every pregnancy is diffrent so please keep your comments limited to what you know about sweety and everything will be non hormonal ty
