I'm going to start packing my hospital bag tomorrow night.. I'm having my baby shower tomorrow so I should have most of the stuff I need.. I'm wondering though what all should I take for me, baby, and fiance.. My son will not be aloud to come visit us :( so I dont need anything for him but what did you take that you were thankful you took or what didnt you take that you wish you took and what did you take that you never used.. I dont want to over pack but I dont want to forget things either. I am having a c-section so what would be best to wear home and wear at the hospital?? Anything else would be great too..
I have a 5 year old son and I wish someone would have told me to bring a few changes of PJ pants. I bled through the only pair I brought..sorry TMI..lol..
Things I felt helpful to bring for the baby were:
Baby Mittens so the baby doesn't scratch itself
Something cute to have pictures taken in
For the Fiance I think some snacks or quarters for vending machines is really helpful
Oh I wish I would have taken my own bed pillow! The only thing I took for baby was his going home outfit and a few onesie that i didn't use cuz he had one of he white long sleve shirt ones on and always wrapped up in blankets.
For the baby, I have a couple of outfits. Ones that can be for pictures or comming home. The first few diapers (at least with my first two) were always a little fuller than we expected.
For me, I just brought 2 pairs of pants and a couple of shirts. And socks!
For DH we didn't pack anything because we lived so close to the hospital, he just went home to shower and change.
My other two won't be in the hosp. with us, so we're packing an over night bag for a friends house.
I think the only thing I wish I would have brought for my first two were a pillow of my own. They could only give me 2 and they are so thin that it felt like one of mine, and I normally sleep with 2.
And a book or something else to keep me occupied. They only got a few channels so the cable didn't keep me occupied while I was in labor.
OH one thing i'm bringing this time, is a sleep mask. when they came to check on me, they didn't have to wake me up, but they did have to turn on the lights, and since they're so bright i'd wake up every time. So this time, I am hoping it will help me sleep a little better for my mini naps I'll get! lol
I surprisingly never bled through onto my clothes with my first.. IDK how because I bled a LOT and bad but it never got onto my clothes.. But with him I did take a change of clothes just incase but I took a TON of crap I didnt need haha..

definitely your own comfy pjs, especially considering the c section. cameras, and extra memory cards/film, pillow from home, snacks for dad, chapstick, make up and anything you want for your shower- since you'll feel sooo much better after the shower! laptop if you plan on posting right away =)

Carrie: I'm a BFing, baby-wearing, co-sleeping, college educated, military supporting, gay marriage supporting, foreign language teaching, open-minded Mommy!
i like to have my own pillow. phone/camera charger. i'm taking snacks this time as before i was so hungry and hated eating fast food that dh brought all the time, and the hospital food either was gross, or just didn't fill me up.
I would say a few outfits for you, because you have no idea what will and will not fit until after the baby is born. Also a few outfits for the baby as well, like they said, for pics and for take home. Also a blanket for the baby, it works great at a background for the baby for pics! Bring some pads, because you can't wear tampons after you have the baby, and you will bleed a lot. Also breast pads! Even if you aren't planning on breastfeeding because your body will still produce milk! The thing I appreciated the most was my own shampoo and conditioner, because the stuff at the hospital is gross!! Same with body lotion and body spray. Of course the regular stuff, your toothbrush and toothpaste, deodarant, things like that. Good luck and congrats! Oh, don't forget to have the husband bring the car seat, because baby cannot come home without one! :)
for the way home i would bring comfy pants like track pants of something that is low and isnt tight on your belly.
Lots of socks
slippers for walking around the hospital
chapstick
quarters for vending machine
pillow
picture out fit/going home outfit for baby a hat socks and onsie also scratch mittens
shampoo/conditioner
body wash
tooth paste/tooth brush
deodarant
lotion
camera
and babybook
Amanda: Proud mommy to Zoe 10/22/04, Landon 8/3/06, Taylor 9/16/08 and Baby #4 due 1/19/10
For me: A pair of pajamas (for after delivery...something you don't mind getting blood on in case it happens), going home outfit (I packed just a pair of cute sweats, tshirt and a sweater but make sure you pack something that fit around 6 months preggo), nursing bra, nursing tank top, sports bra, nursing cover, the baby book, my robe, underwear, socks, hand massager, bathing suit (for the jacuzzi during labor), cell phone and charger, pillow and blanket, a couple of copies of my birth plan, makeup, my hair straightener, hair ties/headbands, and travel size toiletrees.
For my husband: Sleep pants and shirt, 2 outfits, socks, boxers, bathing suit, pillow and blanket, cell phone and charger, camera and charger, video camera and charger, snacks, a small cooler with sodas (he needs caffeine but hates coffee and it's cheaper to bring our own), and toiletrees.
For the baby: A couple of onesies, sleepers, a going home outfit (normally I would say pack 2 sizes...newborn and 0-3 month but my 0-3 month outfit is on the smaller side so that's the only outfit we're packing), a couple of blankets, a burp cloth, caps, and socks. I'm bringing a couple of diapers just in case but the hospital does provide them.
The hospital also provides pads, breast cream and nursing pads so I'm not bringing any of that stuff.
