ha, So I am going to be staying in the hospital for a few days because I have to have a C-section plus they are tying my tubes. The doctor told me to be prepared to stay up to four days. So, I am trying to get together a shopping list and be prepared for what may happen but I want to make sure that who ever is here knows what to make them for diner. Honestly, my husband would rather just give them sandwiches. I have decided to make a lazagna (spelling?) and freeze it so that all they have to do is put it in the oven. Has anyone else done this? Do you know how long that it would have to be in the oven to be completely hot again. Also, is there any other recipes that you can think of that I can plan to make and put in the freezer for SO to be able to do easily?
Im in the SAME boat (Csection and tubal)..only my son is a picky eater so my hubby has to feed him food he wil eat..I just fear that it will be hot dogs for 4 days haha. do you think if you made a list of meal ideas you hubby will cook them? or does he not like to cook? I just know that if u make it fun like 1 night do breakfast for dinner? Maybe even let them have a pizza night..if its fun it will take their mind of mommy not being home :O( I know my son will have a hard time because he has never spent a night away from me. He is 3 1/2 so he really understands when I leave and is very sad.
When I freeze mine, I take it out in the morning and then put it in an hour before I am ready to eat at 425. That way it has time to unthawn and doesn't take as long. As far as other things, I do meatloaf in the freezer, shepards pie, things like that. The other thing he could do really easy is anything in the crockpot. Just make a list as to what to put in it whether its chilli, stew, roast , small chicken etc., turn it on in the morning and it will be ready to eat when they are ready for dinner.
Life is short, break the rules, forgive quickly,
Kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably,
And never regret anything that made you smile
Stop by and sign my guess book, I finally figured out how to add it to my homepage!

YUM thats a good idea too :O)
For lasagna, depending upon the size, its usually about an hour. They have the pre-maid ones that have directions, too, might be a little easier! But yea its usually about an hour @ 425, or tell hubby to use the thermometer and once its past 140ish in the middle it should be good.
I also make and freeze sheperd's pie, since its super easy to make whenever I make it, I make lots of it. Its the same, about on hour @ 400 until the middle is around 160 and its good to go!
Spaghetti's also easy, and doesnt require freezing, unless you want to make meat sauce ahead of time then you can just freeze that and he can defrost it and cook some noodles....
You can also freeze mashed potatoes after you make them, then he can defrost them and make burgers or something? I dont know what he can make, but I have a bunch of recipie cards with only 3 steps that I leave for DH when we go out of town. Its the only way I know he'll actually eat something!
Good luck, hope that helps a little bit :)
