This day keeps getting worse... (need help from those familiar with medicaid) ***updated***
Some of you may remember my post from late last week.... My DH lost his job last week and I needed help in regards to insurance. I decided to apple for medicaid and my paperwork is being processed but in the meantime I went ahead and contacted my sons pediatrician and my OB and neither take medicaid. My sons pediatrician is willing to work with me however my OB will not. Im sad because my OB delivered my son and I guess with these hormones its hard for me to find another dr. Not only are the hormones making it difficult for me but, I dont know how to find a dr that accepts medicaid. Is there a list somewhere? Do they know at the medicaid office? Also any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Ive never not had insurance and this seems to be the worse time :(
A friend of mine gave me a name of a dr who accepts medicaid which is great however until my medicaid is confirmed I have to pay out of pocket. The visit would be around $200. Heres my question..... I just had my son 8 months and this appt was supposed to be to do blood tests and a pap smear. Should I be able to wait for a few weeks until my medicaid goes through or do I need to go to the appt and pay out of pocket?

If you get approved which you mostlikely will cause your pregnant umm when they send you out the paperwork saying you got approved your going to need to pick your HMO and then once you pick your HMO they will send you a list of all the doctors that accept that insurance and you can also look online. Your going to need to pick a primary and put that on your card and then your going to need to pick your ob.
it usually takes about a month to be approved

You can either call Medicaid or the assistance office where you applied & they should be able to help you out. It can be very confusing at first; I had never had any experience with it before I got pregnant. Also you might want to check & see what the policy is for where you live (I'm pretty sure it's the same through out the country) but I know that when I applied for my Medicaid, they said that as long as my doctor's office had proof that my application was being processed, Medicaid would be retro-billed for anything in the first three months. Like, I went for my first appointment sometime in August & didn't become active Medicaid until September but they still paid for that visit in August.
Anyway, good luck!
thats helpful! Thank you :)
