Those cribs with the drop sides make me nervous to begin with.

Yeah I had one with my 1st son as well.  I now have a 3 in 1 crib so the sides dont drop...  I actually disliked not having the drop sides because i'm so short and can barely reach in the regular one... haha... now I'm glad I didn't get one again !

Me too! We screwed ours so that it won't drop down.

I will never own a drop side crib, they freak me out.

Throughout the world, there exists a group of women who feel mightily drawn to giving care to women in childbirth. At the same time maternal and independent, responsive to a mother's needs, yet accepting full responsibility as her attendant; such women are natural midwives. Without the presence and acceptance of the midwife, obstetrics becomes aggressive, technical, and inhuman.

We had a drop down crib with DD that someone gave us, we WERE planning on using it this time around, NOT anymore.... DH and I are going to put one on law away at Babies r us. I was just watching the story on the Today show and my mouth was hanging open the whole segment... Its sad that so many innocent babies get hurt and/or die from something that should be so safe.

They are recalling almost all dropsides. They arent even making them anymore because there has been problems with them.
