Do you think you will use a pacifier with your little one if they will take it?

I was so against it with my boys, but they got RSV at 4 weeks and the hospital gave it to them to ease their throat from having tubes going down. Anyways so it was a losing battle with me on that one.  But I actually treasured them!!  I was against it from the horror stories i heard of getting rid of them, but it was good for me and not hard.

I will have one handy with this one, but if she doesn't need it I wont even try.  But it will be there for JIC she needs one.

Yes. I tried with dd #1 due to SIDS research, but she had no interest. I'll start it when bf is established.

I was really against it but when we brought him home from the hospital, he wouldnt stop crying, so we gave him a paci and he instantly went to sleep. Now at 8 months he doesnt even like them. He will chew on one if his teeth are bothering him but he doesnt suck on them anymore.

Plus babies have a natural sucking reflex.... :)

I tried to give my first little one a pacifier a couple times but she hated it.  She acted like I was tricking her!  But if this one feels more soothed with a pacifier then I have no problem with it.

i said no but they gave him the NUK kind at the hospital and i found out that pacifiers are linked to SIDS reduction for the first few months. He took the paci for about 3 months and then one day just stopped. i really liked the NUK ones though.

Im not "against" it by no means..my son never took to one and it was just one less thing to ween..so hopefully baby girl wont either..but if she does then that's fine too. But I will try to get her off it by the age of 1.

I tried with both babies but they refused them.

Throughout the world, there exists a group of women who feel mightily drawn to giving care to women in childbirth. At the same time maternal and independent, responsive to a mother's needs, yet accepting full responsibility as her attendant; such women are natural midwives. Without the presence and acceptance of the midwife, obstetrics becomes aggressive, technical, and inhuman.

I was worried at first with giving my DD a pacifier but at 12 months we just took it from her and that was the end and I plan to do the same with this little bundle of joy.

Yes, Yes, Yes and here's why...... I was against it when I had my first daughter.  I never gave her one and she did just fine without it.  Then is had my 2nd DD and figured I wouldn't give her one either.  Well she just started sucking on her two middle fingers.  I thought it was cute at first but she always smelled like spit.  So, when my DD #3 was born I was constantly putting a pacifier in her mouth but she chose her thumb instead.  Now, I have a 6year old and a 7 year old that I have been trying to break from their habit for years.  It's an ongoing battle.  So, when this baby is born I will absolutely try the pacifier. At least at some point I can actually take that away.
