When I was pregnant last time, later on in the pregnany they would measure from under my breasts to the bottom of my stomach and some how the number would be the same as the # of weeks I was? When does that start? and I don't get it!
I was like that with my son. With this little girl I am measuring 28 weeks and I am only 27. But most of my weight gain has been baby, and with my son I gained weight everywhere lol. I don't know when it starts though. My doc didn't start measuring me until about 24 weeks.

They start measuring that way around 20-24 weeks, and at that point it should correlate with how many weeks you are. They measure from the pubic symphysis to the top of your uterus (fundus). It is common to be off by up to 2 weeks plus or minus though, and from what my doctor has told me and what I've read, they usually aren't "concerned" unless you measure more than 3 weeks ahead or behind for at least 2 consecutive appts. With my son this was how we found out he wasn't growing right during the 3rd trimester. He was 4-5 weeks behind on measurement and measured 4.5 weeks behind on ultrasound the next day. For me it has been pretty accurate!
They measure your fundal height which in centimeters should be the same as the number of weeks you are pregnant. My doctor started measuring me at 23 weeks. Before then, there wasn't much to measure because my stomach was completely flat. Usually they start at around 18-20 weeks but since I wasn't showing at all, they couldn't.
