I had one done when I was pregnant in 2005 because I had an abnormal pap. Anyways, it didn't really hurt at all and if you're worried that it will you can take 2 tylenol about an hour before and that may help. They hype you up into thinking it's going to hurt like hell and it really doesn't. HTH and Good Luck.

I had abnormal cells during my pregnancy and my doctor opted not to do anything. She said that a lot of times giving birth will actually remove the cells and we would wait until then to do anything. She was correct in my sittuation the cells went away and Ive had a normal pap since. I know when I wasn't pregnant I had to have a coloscopy to me the worst part was laying there while they let the cotton soaked in vinegar sit inside (this is supposed to make abnormal cells more visable) However, due to the tilt of my cervix they were unable to get a clear view of the whole cervix and I ended up having to schedule a LEEP.
I've had several colposcopys done and 2 during pregnancy. I've also had multiple biopsies during pregnancy (during the colps.) and they really aren't that bad. Very minimal cramping/burning that went away within an hour or so! Just take some tylenol about an hour before you go!
Hi there... so to be completely honest with you... a colposcopy is where they take a magnifying lens and look closer at your cervix... the Most Likely will not do a biopsy during pregnancy. for your first one they will just look. I have severe cervical cancer and am pregnant with our third (i was diagnosed in between baby number 2 and this one. we were told due to all that was going on we couldnt get pregnant. went to have a leep completed and found out we were pregnant. so after this baby I am scheduled to have a 6th colposcopy (2nd one with biopsy) and then a cold knife cone biopsy with treatment. My colposcopies did not hurt. i was not one of the lucky ones to be numbed for my biopsy but it didnt hurt either. =) nothing to be scared of I promise. (= you will do wonderful its just like a pap smear but a closer view. keep us posted and good luck =)
