I'm about 14 weeks and I went to the ob yesterday and the baby's heartbeat is 160 which is in the girl range. Now, I don't usually believe in wives tales BUT maybe there is some truth to it after all (I know studies have been done that disprove it.) because although I don't remember the heartbeat when I was pregnant each time with my three boys, I do remember it being in the boy range. I'm hoping for a girl this time because this is the last one. I will find out December 11th if it's a boy or girl.
What has been the outcome in your pregnancies as far as the heartbeat wives tale?
I can't say that I believe in any of those wives tales either but they are fun to talk about. With this pregnancy my daughter's heart rate has been in the low 140's which was the case for my first 2 children. My oldest being a boy and the other a girl so none of them had different heart rates.
Life is short, break the rules, forgive quickly,
Kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably,
And never regret anything that made you smile
Stop by and sign my guess book, I finally figured out how to add it to my homepage!
It's not true for me and my OB says that its not true. The heartbeat depends on the fetal age and time of day the heartbeat was measured..my first measurement (and I'm pregnant with a girl) her heartbeat was in the 120s. My morning appointments her heartbeat would be anywhere between 130s to 140s and in the afternoon appointments her heartbeat would be in the 140s. My last appt was the lastest I ever went to the doctors and her heartbeat was 152.
This is my 3rd pregnacy and I too was hoping a girl because I have 2 boys already. The heartbeat was 160 also and I was carrying way different than I did with my other too. I am a lot smaller....So I decieded to go and get a sneack peak at 15 weeks at a local Ultrasound Place. I was so suprised to find out again it was another boy. I didn't really believe her and almost felt gulity for being upset. Anyway I went to my 2nd 20 week ultrasound and yup its a BOY. So I dont believe the heartbeat or the way carry or any of that anymore. Oh I did take a at home gender predictor test...it was real cool and it was also RIGHT! I was suprised and it was fun to do. So good luck.
I am having a girl and her heart rate varies from 140-178 just depends on the time of day. the doc said it also has to do with how active you have been. I dd ask my u/s lady if there was any truth to it when she did my u/s that the heart rate was 178 and she said that she has disproved it more times than it has been right.
