With my last 2 they made me saty 48 hours...but is there anyway I can go home sooner? I hate being away from my other 2 kids. I heard some people only stay for 24 hours?

I was told we had to wait until I urinated a certian amount, and until my daughter urinated and pooed before we could go, so long as everything is going well :)

I am not sure if it is the same everywhere, but I talked to my doctor about it and he said that if I deliver vaginally without complication they will only keep me 24 hours, for c-sec he said the stay here is typicall 48-72 hours depending on how everything goes.

All 3 of my girls were born at the same hospital.  With my 1st we stayed 3 days (only b/c I didn't know I could leave sooner).  With my 2nd we stayed less then 24 hours.  With my 3rd we stayed 3 days.  We had to b/c she was on an IV for 48 hours.

If everything is fine and you already have your insurance, birth certificate, and other things done then you should be able to leave within 24 hours. But if you are bleeding or torn from having the baby they may tell you to stay for 2 to 3 days but personally I wouldn't mind. I think it will be fun. Have your hubby or someone close stay with you during the time. It will fly by.

Talk to your doctor. I told mine when We all got to the hospital. (Induced) That I wanted to be out ASAP!! He said that as long as everyone was ok and recovered then we could be released the next day. mommy urinating pedi oncall checked tested baby and all was ok. Good 2 GO! 24 hrs later I was home.

P.S. sometimes if your doc delivers you doen't mean that they will be there the next day to release you so make sure it's on your file that you want to be released asap or bug the nurses untill they do something about it. (talk to doc on call)
