Does anyone know anything about the crib recall?

I was given a crib by a friend and it has the drop side. But at Thanksgiving dinner today my mom and sil were saying that all drop sided cribs have been recalled. This crib meets the safety standards as far as rail spacings and whatnot, but it is 14 years old.

I wont be using it as a traditional crib anyway, I usually remove the drop side and push the crib against my side of the bed to make night feedings easier. So, would this still apply to my crib and situation?

Well, I guess I'm in the clear, I looked up Cosco recalls and it wasn't in any recalls, then I went to cosco's website and looked up safety issues and there were none there either.

pushing a crib against the side of a bed can increase risk of suffocation and strangulation. I think this is a bad idea.

The recent recall is for Storkcraft Dropside cribs with PLASTIC parts. (Not the metal parts) That's all I know

What's the difference in doing this and using the arm's reach co-sleeper? Seems like the same concept to me.

I thought it was only the ones w/ plastic parts.  You just need the fix kit so they can't go down.

Mine isn't in any of the brands listed & the parts are metal & wood.  I don't think it si included then.

My other one is the basement might, it wasn't a brand listed but it was a cheaper crib from JCPenney's.

Putting the crib against the bed could allow the child to slip through the space and get tangled.

I believe the arms reach cosleeper is meant to be AT arms reach of your bed.. so your baby is right there.. without being THERE ya know? Hope that makes sense lol.
