Question about U/S...

I have my first appt in a couple weeks (i know its a lil late for me but I had some insurance problems). When I had my son 8 years ago, i was able to get the ultrasound on video. Is this still done? Was your u/s a on video or a dvd?

Thanks

I just had my 28 weeks ultrasound this past Monday.  I took a DVD for them to make a video and was told that they didn't do that anymore.  That may just be the hospital that I use.  Not sure if they all have quit doing videos.  Wish you luck in getting one made!

My doctor doesn't do video/DVD.  I do have a friend (who goes to the same group), though, whose DH brought their video camera and made a video of it that way.  Good luck!

Most Dr's don't do that anymore, but if you go to a place for a 3D or 4D unltrasound you possibly can.  But they get pricey.

Very few physicians allow videos to be done of the ultrasound anymore because it is a liability. It is "proof" that the baby was alive at some point if there are complications later. Most malpractice insurance companies have advised them not to allow it. Most of the newer machines don't have it built into them anymore for this reason. Now I do know that most will take several pictures for you. And as far as bringing your own camera to video tape, make sure that it is okay first. I asked to record the heartbeat for my husband on my phone since he couldn't be at the appointment and my doc said that technically he wasn't supposed to let me but did it anyway. Hope this helps.

our doctor does videos on dvd's and even saved the u/s pictures on a regular cd for us.
