today was the 2nd time I've been sent up to L&D and then sent home...I'm 4cm dilated, 100% effaced, and having HORRIBLE pressure down there. but apparently that means nothing and I just keep getting sent home. I have to have a c-section, and my date isn't even scheduled until the 29th...still 2 weeks away. this is my 3rd baby and both of my other labors were super fast. I'm just really depressed and getting really discouraged. I've been in pain for weeks and apparently nobody wants to do anything about it....they won't even move my c-section date up. just needed to vent
I thought so too, esp. since I need a c-section so they don't want me going into full out labor anyways....but apparently not. and thanks :-)

I'm sorry, I thought it was most hospitals procedure to admit woman who were 4cm or more? Well, I hope it get better for you soon!
MY sil is an l&d nurse and says that they do that for the wellbeing of the baby that if the moms is not in active labor they do send home, but even at that @ 4 cm they do admitt, I have had 3 c-sections I have been dialated and they send me home each time not considering I had 3 preterm babies.
Being 4 cm dilated doesnt have to mean anything and the pressure is a normal thing that most moms have at the end of pregnancy. In my opinion they are right in sending you home and waiting with the c-section, i dont know why you are having one but it is best for baby to stay in as long as possible (at least 39weeks).
A lot of women seem to think that being 4 cm means active labor but it doesnt, it is not an indication of anything and you can walk around 4-5 cm for many many weeks just like you can go from 0 to 10cm in a couple of hours.
Throughout the world, there exists a group of women who feel mightily drawn to giving care to women in childbirth. At the same time maternal and independent, responsive to a mother's needs, yet accepting full responsibility as her attendant; such women are natural midwives. Without the presence and acceptance of the midwife, obstetrics becomes aggressive, technical, and inhuman.

I remember with my second daughte I had a scheduled c section that was still 2 1/2 weeks away. I went to labor and delivery and they said they were braxton hicks to go home take a hot shower drink some water and go to bed. Well I did all that it didnt stop. So I waited my contractions were 3 mins apart and lasted a min long. So I went back to labor and delivery and I was dilated to 4 cm they called my dr and he asked me if I wanted to stop the labor or if I wanted to go ahead with the csection then. I chose then. SO he came in and I had my daughter about an hour later. But I was always told if you are 4 cm then they try to stop it or they do the surgery and me they aint stopping nothing i want the surgery...
Im in the same boat I have been sent home three times and im not having a C section. I have had all of my babies early but this is the longest i have been prego and they sont want me to deliver yet. Go figure right but ill just keep making laps around my house to get things moving faster here and we will see. Our hospital will not admit until 5 cm any way which i think is stupid but oh well.
I would be so frustrated too! Thats what they kept doing to me with my first! I ended up delivering at a diff hospital with a diff doctor, I was 4cm 100% effaced and bleeding and they kept treating me like I was a joke.. I swear you had to be crowning for that hospital to take you seriously.. so frustrating! Sorry youre going thru this mama :(
