Professional photographer during pregnancy/childbirth?

Okay, so I was thinking about this the other day and wondering what I should do.  I really want to have some sort of record either in photos or video of this pregnancy and birth.  This is DH and I's first child.  Did anyone else hire someone to take photos of them during pregnancy and while they were laboring or in childbirth?  Was it reasonable the cost and how would you recommend going about hiring someone to take those sorts of pictures for you?  TIA.

It depends on what you want, really.   But I suggest having a Birth Doula and she will document everything for you.
I have done this for others many times, it works really well!   The "extra" person in the room is also a labor support specialist!

My births were just videotaped, not photographed--   I loved it!   The midwives and my husband did the taping.    They are really great!

:-)

Just as a woman’s heart knows,

How and when to pump,

Her lungs to inhale,

And her hand to pull back from fire,

So she knows when and how to give birth.

Pictures are soo important to me, so I would love to have a professional take them. In reality we have 7 kids and don't have tons of money to pay for a photographer. So.... One of my best friends took pictures for me. I think if you have the money it would be something you wouldn't regret. There are only so many times in life you can witness a miracle and this is one of them.

Well I am very shy, so another person in the room with me naked is not ideal. I plan on having my mom and DH in the room, and they will both have digital cameras, I told them to take as many pics as possible so that when I get home I can go through them and make my own book!
