Actually I have two unrelated question,lol... I'd thought I would knock out two birds with one stone.
My 1st ?.......... I went to the Dr yesterday. It was supposed to be a sick visit, but I was never seen ( long story )... anyways..... When the nurse took my wight, I noticed that I had lost all the weight I had gained this pregnancy. I am only 16 weeks. I had gained 7 LBS the last time I went to my OB check up ( last month ). I can't believer I lost all 7 LBS! Unless their scale is off,IDK. I am at the exact weight I had started with. I had been having problems with hyperemesis, but this past week I have been feeling much better. I don't know if this should be alarming to me? Maybe not.
My 2nd ?........ Is about cats.... I know this might be a dumb question, but do cats really steal babies breath? What does this mean? I have had cats all my life, and I have never heard of this. I had cats when DS was a infant and never had a problem with them. Should I be concerned about having cats around infants and babies?

Regarding the cat question: NO. Do not worry. I mean, like any infant - you shouldn't leave them unattended w/ cat (or dog, or ANYTHING for that matter) but the "stealing breath" thing is a huge myth. We have 3 cats and have no intentions of getting rid of them. We do plan to put either a canopy over the babies crib so the cat can't jump into the crib to snuggle with baby, OR an inside type screen door on the room to the nursery so the cats can't get in. You just have to watch, thats all - but you would be anyway, cats in the house or not. Most cats will be kinda "freaked out" by baby and will stay away altogether...just keep an eye on baby & cats when they interact.
I have heard of cats laying ON the babies face, killing them, and this is where it came from. When my nephew was a baby, my sister found her cat sleeping in his crib next to his face.... Scary. So made sure she kept his door shut. As for the weight, maybe since you have been pregnant you have been more carful of what you eat, and are eating healthier? Yea!
That's a good idea..... With my other cats, they all stayed away from my son when he was a newborn. But we have a new cat, so I don't know how she would react.

Hi! The weight thing I wouldn't worry about as long as you are eating and taking care of yourself. I hear women's weight can fluctuate throughout pregnancy and also different scales measure differently. We have two cats and didn't have any problems with them around DD when she was a newborn. She slept in our room for the first 2-3 months and then when she went in her own room we kept the door shut so the cats couldn't go in there. Other than that they didn't really seem too interested in her during the day.
dont worry about the weight part. as long as you are eating and drinking as best you can to keep yourself nourished you are fine. also, ive never heard that about cats. i guess i wouldnt trust the cat to be unsurpervised with the baby.
