Changing Colors???

So my son lifted up my shirt to take a look at my 9 month mountain and i noticed that my stretch marks are a dark color...almost purple....Why would they do that?

not 100% sure about this but i think it is because the skin is so thin and there is extra blood flow so they are dark red/purple..some of mine at the end of my pregnancies went from light to dark like that, never really thought about it though..lol..
