I wish my insurance would cover a doula!!! :(

apparently, my insurance finds that too 'new age' and doesn't 'approve' of it. GRRRR.

Begging the question-which came first the chicken or the egg?

Maybe the people who use Doulas are better educated (likely since Doula's aren't cheap-or generally covered by insurance)

I used one and had 4 all natural births.  I hired a doula to make my life easier-and she did!

But with or without her, I would have had the same births.

It sure wa s  nice to have someone ELSE telling my wasbund what to do!

I don't get that option, this will be my 3rd csection not what I wanted but the doctor wasn't stupid like my last and gave me an explanation, he said he would ask his partners but they agreed csec is best for me. So I'm a proud csection momma.

I am afraid a Doula would take away the experience between my husband and me.  If anyone is going to help care for me at that time, I would like it to be him. I would not want him to feel like a third wheel.

Me too.

OP, I knew that the incidences of all of what you mentioned were lower but did not know the actual statistics.

That's an interesting perspective.  My husband would LOVE for us to have a doula.  He wants to be a part of the birth too but it's not something he is experienced or expert at so it would take the pressure off of him a bit - lol.
