Ok a little background....I decided to try castor oil last Friday. I was 2-3 cm dialated and my cervix had started "funneling" the week prior. I woke up about 9am and took 2oz with OJ. By 1pm nothing had really happened so I took another oz. I did have a couple of watery BM but not the "explosion" I had expected. LOL. By dinner still not too much happening. I was having contractions but nothing regular and they really didn't feel any worse than BH. At about 8 they regulated enough to start timing them. They were 2-4 min apart and lasted about 30-40 seconds! This went on for a few hours. But still...they weren't painful at all. Then out of nowhere they STOPPED! So I made hubby have sex (like that was hard LOL.) They started again! Coming about 2 1/2- 3 min apart and lasting 40-50 seconds. It was about 1am so I went to bed and hoped and prayed I woke up in some pain! LOL! NO LUCK!! My castor oil experience was a failure!
So onto today...I have felt crappy all day. Just a general blah. Crampy, tired, irritable, sore, and a constant feeling of needing to poo. LOL! I know these can all be "signs" of the onset of labor. So I decided to go ahead and take the rest of my castor oil in hopes that I can make something really happen this time! So I just took the last 3oz in shots chased with coke. Wish me luck that we can actually have a baby this time! I am SOOO ready for her to be here!
Update: So I went to bed about 1am. Got up to use the bathroom at about 8. Went back to bed and got up at 9. I have been having a few contractions but just like last time not regular. I would say that they are a bit more painful though. I am not giving up hope since it took about 12 hours to get some good contractions going last time! LOL!
Update 2: Contractions were about 5 min apart and getting good around 2pm. So I decided to walk to the strip mall up thee street so do some shopping. I was hoping this might help me along. Well I just got home and the contractions have all but stopped! She is so stubborn! I know she will come when shes ready, but damn! LOL! I'm starting to feel like I am destined to have a 12lb baby at 45 weeks! LOL J/K!
I haven't ever heard of castor oil working....sorry. :( I hope she comes soon, I've still got my heels dug in for the long haul, I'm 28 1/2 weeks now, so I've got awhile...and my mom kinxed me and said shes gonna be late b/c she'll be a gemini...so I'm expecting June 5 or 6, not the 1st like the doctor is saying. But GOOD LUCK!!!
Good luck< im waiting for the contractions to get regular myself. Going to call the dr in a few since they were regular for a while yesterday and see what they say.
Walk....You need to walk,walk,walk. That's how my midwife told me to do it. OJ and Castor oil and once the contractions started to walk. So good luck momma!! It worked for me. :-)
