Growth Spurt! I gained 4 lbs this week :-(

I had been really happy with my weight gain - last week I had gained 7 lbs total, and most of that was since 20 weeks.  But this morning (25 weeks today) I weighed and I gained 4 lbs!  I knew I had been really hungry this week, but I expected more like 2 lbs.  I was looking over my weight journal from Katherine, and I gained a lot between 20 and 28 weeks with her, too.  So this must the right time for a baby growth spurt.

I really would not worry that much about your weight. A lot of times there are so many other reasons that you have gained extra weight like water retention, ect that doctors simply don't look at. I have gain 20 lbs in the last 2 months (between my 4th and 6th month), but I hadn't gained any weight before that and I carry tons of water weight... so I don't worry about it too much. Yes it's a freaky to step on the scale and see how much weight you have gained, but you are growing a baby and the weight can come off in the end =)

I also agree that during this time span there is a growth spurt! My little girl has grown a lot length wise in the last 3 weeks... I can tell from how she is positioned now compared to before!

I always get a growth spurt really close to the 3rd trimester too!  The biggest weight jumps are then!

It could definitely be some water weight, I know I haven't been drinking enough.  But then my friend goes and makes that comment on my FB page today and I just feel especially fat and gross.  I lost weight at the beginning, then put it back on by 20 weeks, so I was even with where I started.  Since 20 weeks, I have gained 11 lbs, so that's an average of a little more than 2 lbs a week, and I know I should be aiming for 1 lb a week.  More water, more yoga, less junk I guess.

I'm not sure what I weigh, since I don't have a scale in the house. I'm going through a similar hunger phase so i'm sure i've put on a good 3-4 this past week.

It could be a baby growth spurt. Have you been retaining more water lately? I gained 4lbs in a week and my midwife noticed that I was a little puffier than normal and attributed weight gain partially to increased fluid retention.
