Would you have another c-section after this?*Edit*forgot to add this

OK I'm not pregnant right now but next year me and my DH are thinking about TTC. Well both of my kids I ended up having by emergency c-section and with my DD they cut her head. I was going to try and have her by VBAC but had issues with my gall bladder then my BP so c-section. Anyways I don't want to have another c-section ever again because I do not want to risk the cut being anywhere worse for my next child and I don't want another spinal. My last spinal made me have a partially numb leg. :( So what would you do? I'm just curious and please keep it civil. :)                                      Oh and I did find a midwife already that does a VBA2C so I'm excited for whenever we do get pregnant again!

I forgot to add that the reason why my son was an emergency c-section was because they said his heart rate was going low during contractions which I read somewhere that that is normal as long as it goes back up right after which his did. I think it was mainly because they were on a time limit because the day I had my son which via c-section was 2 minutes before midnight and they were moving the next day. We were the first patients in the new hospital and were put in the local paper because of it. Now that I think about it if I was more educated then he could have been the first baby born in there then. :) Also with my DD they assumed I had pre-eclampsia like I did with my son which while I was there and they put me on the mag I told the nurse the pain was still there and they just gave me some pills. Of course my BP was high, I was in pain!lol. So needless to say they made me have her and 2 weeks later I had my gall bladder removed. ;)

I'm truly hoping that your daughter getting cut was a horrible, horrible accident and not the usual for the doctor involved.  I don't think I've ever heard that before.  But anything is possible.  Plus, there is the possibility that you could try VBAC and still end up needing an emergency c-section.  I would definitely PLAN to have a VBAC, but just be prepared for another c-section if it is needed and NOT use the same doctor who did it last time.  My epidural last time didn't take and I ended up with a spinal, and the only side affect I had from that was my upper body was horribly itchy during recovery so I hated that.

Good luck when you start TTC and I wish you the best with whatever delivery you end up having!

I would opt for the VBA2C myself (and that IS what I will do with the next baby).  VBAC is still a safer choice than a RCS in most cases!

Oh my face itched like crazy during the recovery after the spinal. I thought I was going to have red spots everywhere.lol. I had the same doctor when I had my son as well. I know I won't be using him after that though. I am willing to accept another c-section if its the last possible option. My DH and I are considering a HBA2C so hopefully it goes well.

I completely support your plans for HBA2C or VBA2C.  I haven't had a cesarean, but I can only imagine how scary that must have been, with your baby getting hurt and all.  As it seems you're doing, I do everything I can to avoid going under.  I've heard of babies being cut before, fortunately I'm pretty sure it's a very rare occurence but I know it does happen.  My friend has 2 boys, her first was a cesarean, and he had been cut on his back.  (She had a VBAC with her second 2 years later.)  Best wishes, I'm happy you found a midwife, and even happier she supports VBAC / HB!!

My friend was the one who told me about her. It made me scared to know that it happened to my DD. She was tiny too only 4 pounds 5 ounces at birth.

The itching is from Duramorph, it's the long acting pain reliever they give immediately following the surgery. It is supposed to last 24 hours I believe. I had the itchies like crazy after my first (scratched my face raw), so for my second I specifically requested some benedryl along with it. It helped a lot!

I wasn't sure what it was from, but I don't remember it with my first daughter and she was c-section also.  But I did have demorol before they decided to do the c-section, so I was pretty much out of it and asleep for awhile after the surgery.  But with my 2nd, we had planned the c-section, so I didn't have any medicines to make me drowsy and I remember most of the time in the recovery room, and I thought I was gonna die from the itching.  The worst part was I said something to my nurse, and she acted like I was exagerrating how bad I was itching.  My ex hubby had to tell her that I was about to draw blood because I was scratching my chest so hard!!! lol

If i were you I would get a homebirth midwife to to a HBA2C.  Where I live I can't do that so I found a great OB that does VBAC, if you can have a midwife and home birth do it, less need of 'emergency' c-section and less over involvement.

I would be scared to have ahome birth after having to have emergancy c-sections. What if you needed another and were at home where you couldn't get one. That is just my opinion though. I totally understand not wanting another c-section, though. If you could do VBAC and you are comfortable with it, go for it. I wish you luck TTC-ing and all the way through delivery. :)

Midwives are trained in spotting problems, and if one were to arise they would transfer a homebirth to the hospital for an emergency c-section or anything else that you might need at a hospital.  Home births have actually been proven safer than hospital births in several studies.
