I see sooo many moms post about their u/s around 35-36 weeks...my doc told me no more ultra sounds...i only had 2...the first one and the one at 22 weeks to find out the sex.  Im 36 weeks tomorrow and go to the doc on monday.  I want to know how much my baby weighs! lol...should i ask her for one? would insurance cover it?  she always tells me my belly measures right where it should be for that many weeks along...but what if my baby's weight/length says something different?

I would imagine that unless she has reason to suspect that something is off, she won't give you another u/s. It's really not necessary. U/S measurements late in pregnancy aren't very accurate anyway. You could ask, but be prepared for her to say no.

As far as insurance, I don't know for sure, but I think they only cover medically necessary u/s, and in this case, I don't think it would qualify.

Wow...2 ultrasounds?  I know of course with my twins I had one, maybe two a month. But with my daughter I recall having about 5/6 total. Iam 4 months pregnant with my 4th baby and my doctor will do a ultrasound this week.....around 21 weeks to check for certain diseases and again around 6/7 months to check the weight and growth. I have always known doctors to check weight around 6/7 months. I would deff ask her. Iam pretty sure your insurance will cover it...they give you a limit as far as I know.

i got a u/s in each trimester. it can not hurt to ask the worst thing she can say is no or your insurance wont cover it.

I have had many ultrasounds but thats because babies kidneys are dialated, and now I have them weekly because of high blood pressure but no more than likely they wont give you one unless there is a valid reason. Insurance wont cover it

tricare only covers medically necessary u/s. and finding out about how much the baby weighs isn't one. although i have heard of women going to the er saying that they have fallen and they get an ultrasound. i wouldn't really recommend doing that but i've heard of it being done so it was covered under insurance.

I was wondering the same thing. I had one at 7wks and the last was at 21 wks.. and my dr said unless something goes wrong or she thinks is going wrong then she will do one but 2 is all she does. We can pay to have a 3d/4d done but that woudl just be for fun.

i'm in the same boat..i'm actually on the medical card and they said i can't even get the 3D u/s for free.  all my friends have gotten it for free on the medical card.  It sucks cuz i wanna see his lil face ;)

Our insurance only covers one u/s as did our last insurance co. unless there's a medical reason for it. So I've only had the one to tell me the gender. I was told that ultrasounds can be off on the weight as well. I totally know how you feel though-I'm 36 weeks and I want to see my baby again! Lol!

im also on the medical card but like most insurance companies, they wont cover more then 2 unless medically necessary bcuz i was goin to ask my dr for another one later on to re-check the gender(yes im THAT paranoid lol) & then wen they bill me for it ill pay for it
