This pregnancy is EXACTLY like my mom's was with me. Well, when she went into labor with me she couldn't sit down because of the pressure. She didn't feel the contractions, just pressure. She had a doctors appointment that morning and they asked her if she knew she was in labor and she said no. I've been having extreme pressure since last night. I couldn't sleep on my side because it felt like she was boring a hole through my pelvis. Today I cannot even sit down because of the pressure. She was in true labor for 2 hours with me. Hopefully it will go that fast with this one!
The problem is I have a TERRIBLE cold. I can barely talk and am all congested. The hospital I am delivering at has shared rooms. I'm allergic to flannel as well so that is a problem for me anyways. They wouldn't make someone share a room with me if I am sick right? And they can't make me share a room with somebody who is using their flannel receiving blankets because I can't breathe anyways! Can't talk well enough to call the hospital and ask about this.

Perhaps just tell them you are HIGHLY allergic to flannel! they may put a special colored bracelet on you but I don't think they will question it and will HAVE to keep you away from flannel--- just my thought.
As long as you don't have a fever though they may make you share a room they will put up a curtain to keep you from sneezing on the other person perhaps...
I would DEFINETLY warn them about the flannel allergy - they may make other arrangements for you.
They better make other arrangments! I cannot breathe around flannel. I start coughing and gasping for air. I will sign myself out of that hospital and threaten them with a lawsuit if they put me in that situation! My son was the same way. Someone wrapped him in a flannel blanket and they couldn't figure out why he was having a hard time breathing. Hubby noticed it was flannel (I was out of it from my c-section) and took it out of the room and he started breathing better again. I'm bringing my own blankets because of it but I can't control what the other person in the room has! We had a private room at the other hospital and they put a BIG sign on my son's bed about my allergy.

Have you tried the neti pot?
And lots of garlic?
Home remedies can kick butt!
good luck! could some one else call for you since you have a bad cold and let them know? and see what they say about your condition too?
I'll try garlic. Don't have a neti pot :(
I LOVE home remedies! I despise drugs, even OTC. Last time I took a drug (other than my thyroid medication I don't have a choice of taking) was when I was recovering from my c-section almost 3 years ago!

Good Luck! Have your hubby call and talk to the hospital, are you already registered? maybe they could add something to your registration so they know a head of time.
Hubby's at work and won't be home for about 5 hours. I still need to register. I have the form and will fill it out as soon as I get DS to sleep.

I dont know if this applies with you, but my local hospital does online registrations for maternity and surgeries...worth looking into.

I feel like if they ignored your safety, that seems like the opposite of what a hospital is supposed to do. Do you have someone that could call for you? And what about the doctor? Have you spoken to them yet about all this pressure? I can't wait to hear details :) Good luck!
