okay..im looking for ways to save money while on maternity leave cause its gonna get pretty tight... we pay 60$ a month for cable and internet and i calle comcast and asked if they have an option to "freeze" your account and tehy said they do but they will still harge 10$ amonth even though it will be shut off and we wont be using it all.

id still be saving 50$ a month but im kind of stubborn and angry that they make you pay 10$ a month for nothing...would u go for it or just keep the cable and internet?

If you truly think that the $50 is going to make a difference, then I would "freeze" the account. Are there not other places you could cut back to save the $50 a month? Like maybe cutting out "extras" at the grocery store?

If your account is in good standing, comcast is usually pretty good about making deals.  I called recently and got $35 taken off my monthly bill just because I asked.  I didn't change my package or anything.

Will you be saving on gas by not working?  Can you change your car ins by making a higher deductible? stop trash pickup for a few months and make a trip to the dump instead?  save money on groceries by planning meals in advance and having meat-less meals a few nights per week.  See if you qualify for WIC or food stamps or short term unemployment.  Do you have a credit card you can use in a pinch?
