Does anyone know if it's safe for me to handle my ferret while I'm pregnant and clean up after her? DH works all day so it's up to me and she's MINE after all. I know you can't handle cat poop when pregnant. She cannot be given away, I love her too much and she has special needs cause she's deaf. Anyone know?
Oh I'm not worried to have her around the baby (when they come), she's very gentle and has never bitten.
not sure..ask your doc..i would take precautions changing her cage and wash you hands after handeling her...

eta-we got a ferret when i was like 6months w/our first. i changed the litter and played with him, but always washed my hands before and after just in case there was something...we all loved him. he was just a baby when we got him..even my inlaws loved him..he was the best.. but sadly he died about 2yrs later from what we think was a heart attack :( i cried for days. i was heart broken..id love another ferret but my heart isnt ready and we dont have room where we live..lol.

My husband takes care of their cage for me, but only because I cant get down and in there daily! I dont handle their poop at all. I feed and play with them though!
