If you're measurinig ahead but youre really 34 wks but measuring 38 or so will they take the baby early? Would they really have any reason to?

I would hope not, there are a lot of reasons why the measurements can be off, during both my pregnancies i "measured" 6 weeks ahead at one point but it didnt mean anything at all..after the first i stopped taking the measurements seriously.

I'm confused... how were you measured? With a tape or by ultrasound? Ultrasounds are OFTEN way off so I certainly wouldn't let that be the deciding factor in whether or not I'm induced.

I don't think so.....you can have a full term 6 pound baby, or a full term 11 pound baby and both have fully developed lungs, heart etc. Just because the baby's measuring big, doesn't mean he/she is ready to come out, KWIM?

Not so sure, my friend is  measuring 2 weeks ahead her baby is big, and her doc is saying she will still go to her due date, but to be aware because she could have him any day now. Maybe it depends on your doctor!

With my first two ultrasounds I was measuring behind.  At my 32 and 34 week appointments, my do measured me with the tape and said I was measuring about 2 weeks ahead.  She never said anything about the baby HAVING to come early unless there was a medical reason.

Usually, they will do an ultrasound to see why there is such a difference in measurements.  I have measured off by four weeks too before, and they just did a ultrasound to see what was up and how the baby was growing.  I ended up carrying the baby until I was full term by my dates.  I have however heard of people having too much amniotic fluid, or the baby is big due to measurements being off too.
