I have genital herpes and am scared shitless to have this baby vaginally. I want to have a vbac but I'm just really scared of the risk. Hell I don't even know if this doctor will even let me have a vbac seeing as I've has 2 prior csections. (Needless to say I didn't have the genital herpes with my previous 2 children)
if you contracted the virus before you got pregnant than you chances of passing it are much lower than they would be if you had gotten the virus while pregnant.
Even contracting the cold sore herpes while pregnant can put your baby at risk. i had a friend who began getting cold sore while she was pregnant and hadn't before that time. when she was in labor the doctors put an internal monitor on her baby while she was still in utero the baby contracted herpes thru the place where they had attached the monitor to her head. the baby was in the hospital for 2 months and was on antiviral meds for her first two years... she's 6 now and is fine but it was very very serious.
Yep. Done it twice. So long as there is not an active outbreak and hasn't been recently the baby will be fine. Taking meds the last month of pregnancy can help reduce the risk of an outbreak even more.
