How long do you wait until you leave your newborn with a babysitter (for a few hours, a night?)?

I won't leave my son now 10 weeks with anybody except my DH not even other family and won't until 9, 10 months at the earliest.

My oldest was around 2 when she went to a babysitter for the first time.  She had to go b/c dh and I had conflicting schedules with work and school.

My youngest is 19 months and has never been watched by anyone other than Dh or I and DH is now a stay at home dad, so I do not really see it anytime soon.  (Though many are telling us we need to go on a date night).

We are due in march and I would say probably will not be leaving this one with a sitter much either.

I left my 6 week old with my mother while my husband and I went out to dinner.  But, she is the ONLY person I leave my kids with.  That was the only time I was away from her at that age.  When she was about 8 or 9 months I left her with my mother more often (yay date nights LOL).
