Im trying to research this online and There isnt much.

What do you know about sex during the first stage of labor?

Can you only have sex if your water isnt broken?

Is it safe?

How do you know when you should?

Does it release that much oxytocin to stimulate contractions?

Thanks for the bump. Im still on the fence about labor being a sexual expirience, but If sex will help in the early stage, why not?

never tried it but then again i never thought of it either...hmmmm ill have to keep that in mind this time around. i dont see why it wouldnt be safe if your water hasnt broken, and orgasm usually causes your uterus to contract and the semen helps to soften the cervix so it only sounds beneficial to me. lol dh might not go for it though... im going to try it this time!!! Thanks for the idea!

Yes you can have sex throughout labor as long as your water isn't broken and it does release a good amount of oxytocin but only if you orgasm, the semen however will help soften the cervix. I had sex in early labor and it got things going, I know people that have done it throughout labor as a pain management/distraction method.

I think it would be very helpful during early labor  as long as your water isn't broke :- )
