Okay, so I had my hcg and progesterone levels done yesterday and I was sitting here thinking, wow my progesterone levels are really high! I looked it up and it says in the first trimester they are suppose to be between 4-47 or something like that.  And mine were over 100.  And I am only right at 5 weeks. Now I am taking progesterone because of low levels, but even before I didn't have this high of levels when I was on it with my son.  They were always around 40. So, I got to searching and saw tons of things about it indicating twins.  My hcg levels are also above average for where I am at in my pregnancy too, so does anyone have any experience with this? Do you think possibly twins? I guess I'll have to just wait for my u/s on the 17th. Ugh I hate waiting!! LOL

I'd just wait until you can get an ultrasound. HCG level vary greatly.

Guideline to hCG levels during pregnancy:

hCG levels in weeks from LMP (gestational age):

  • 3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
  • 4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
  • 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
  • 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
  • 7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
  • 9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
  • 13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
  • 17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
  • 25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
  • Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
  • Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml
