Can I refuse...

The cathedar when I'm in labor? I remember with my first they just shoved it in me and with my second they waited until I had the epidural... With this baby (my last) I want to see how long I can go (hopefully the whole time) without an epidural... So can I just refuse the cathedar?

from what I understand, you don't get the cathedar until you get the epidural. There is not reason to get it unless you have the epidural, so by all means refuse it until you get the epidural! They really can't give you stuff without your consent so there shouldn't be any problem with you refusing it

They won't give you one until you have an Epi. I needed to be straight cathed(sp) with my last one because there was too much pressure to pee but my bladder was too full for the baby to pass by. 8( I actually prefered that way.

i would assume you could refuse it if you refuse the epi

They should NOT be putting in a catheter at all unless you get the epidural... Yes you can refuse, it's your right!

I think its if you have a epi you.can't.feel or walk to pee. So you need one if you.aren't.getting a epi you.can move around and pee on your own.

Of course!!
You get to have whatever you want/don't want.
Did you know that everything is optional?
If you're planning no epidural, will you also plan no other medss?
