If you have cantalope, Throw it away.....

I found this in the stir and its basically stating that cantalope is dangerous, it carries listeria, salamonilla and something else thats very dangerous especially to pregnant women. Its being contaminated by wild animals having access to the water supply that is used for the growing of the melons.

So its better to be safe then sorry, Id toss any cantalope you may have

They dont always carry listeria, it is an airborne bacteria. There is only cases of this in colorado, and new mexico. I live in NM, we have eaten a few cantelopes... We will see what happens... But if you wash the outside of the melon and let it dry beforw cutting it, its safe to eat.

I always wash melons first anyohw~  in fact, I won't touch them in the store...   I use a produce bag to pick them up.
