question for those with allergies

Hi mammas...

I have been battling with chronic and recurring uticaria (hives/itchiness) for over a year now.  My doc had me on two doses of 24 hour allegra a day.

As soon as I thought I may be pregnant, I stopped taking it as it's a class c drug.

I'm itching like crazy - but I don't want to hurt the baby.

Have any of you used Claritin or Zyrtec to fight hives?  I know they're safe - as is benadryl - but I can't take benadryl everyday it makes me pass out and it seems right now blinking exhausts me.

Any ideas?

A topical ointment would be better. Something topical always works better with my hives. But i take razene, cetrazine. Try a combination of topical and tablet to get it under control.

I take claritin d for allergies, but i dont get hives. Would maybe a hydrocortisone cream work for your hives?

I also find the claritin 12 hour preparation works better than the 24 hr for me, the 24 hr gives me a headache
