What to use aside from crib bumpers?

So i've been hearing all these terrible things about bumpers. We were going to use a pack n play as a crib but we got a really nice crib given to us and i'm going to use it! I'm new to all this so what do I use if I don't use crib bumpers? Or are there certain ones to use that ARE good and safe?

You can use nothing.
or some places make "breathable" bumpers.

Breathable bumpers. Cheaper than regular bumpers and safe to use. :)

Bumpers aren't bad if they are used CORRECTLY.

We don't use anything. Never had an issue. And even used correctly, they can be dangerous.

There really is no need for anything. The crib slats should be made so baby can't get head stuck in between. Baby CANNNOT throw him/herself against rails hard enough to cause damage.

there are mesh bumpers, but imo there is no point to those...

The current guidelines recommend NOTHING in crib but fitted crib sheet. Bumpets pose a suffocation hazard and even breathable mesh risks entrapment hazard. Yes, many have used w/o issue but it is a risk.
