I went to nursing school for a year right out of high school. It was a private college and I couldn't afford to finish. So I went to community college and got my general associates degree. it would have taken 3 more years to get my associates in nursing. I wasn't going to go to school for 5 years to get a 2 year degree. Anyway, I've been thinking about going back to nursing school to get my BSN and become an RN. Then become a CNM.
I'm just wondering if anyone here is a midwife. I know there are a lot of Doulas here. I've also never looked into what it would take just to become a midwife. Anyone know off the top of their head?
I'm really interested in becoming a doula, anyone have any info on that?
Really? I didn't know that. I'm obviously starting from scratch here.

I work at a women's hospital with tons of midwives. I've always wanted to be one too. I have a year left to get my associates degree in nursing. As far as I've been told the midwifery program would be like a masters program. All you have to have is your BSN to apply.
That would be such a great way to go about it!

The birthing center that I get my care through they give free classes, they are two years long then two years of being an apprentice(sp) you just have to buy all of your books.. The classes are awesome, I dont think Ill be a midwife but I take them because I love to know all the details of everything. But after you finish the complete course from my understanding you become a certified midwife. Its awesome and really cool that they do it for free.:) hope this helps.
I want to be a CNM too. I currently have been a L&D nurse for 6 months. I'm going to give it at least a year to apply to any schools.
A do you want to attend classes or do it online or apprentice... ?
You would be soooo great!!
