question about lmp

Hi ladies i'm currently 27 Weeks closer to 28.Weeks preggo and I have a question why do doctors go by lmp if you weren't preggo then its crazy and very confusing I had a period 8/1/11 and had sex the 11 so wth im confused please explain

 It's just a general rule of measure.  Because they can not pinponit when your egg and his sperm actually met to conceive baby.

Yep what they said...also, it depends on your cycle length.  Most doctors will just assume one's cycle is 28 days (then it figures when exactly ovulation could be too).

Ok I have a question I had my normal cycle on July 22 I think then a another cycle August 1 how is that possible if I have a 30 day cycle and normally come on at the end of each month
