Ultrasound machines

I want an ultrasound machine for home. I'm pregnant with twins and already on bed rest at 12 wks. I don't know if it will be for the rest of the pregnancy or just a few weeks. I have had some sharp pains and want to be able to check on the babies without going to the doctor. I found some laptop machines for $900 but I can think of other things to spend the money on. Has anyone bought a machine for home use or would you?

Its probably best the doctor check you out regularly, plus unless you are rich I could think of better things to spend $900 on with twins coming . . . .good luck.

I agree with the above, also unless your educated in how to read them or know someone else who is, I would not waste my money on something I couldn't even use properly.

Perhaps consider buying a doppler?

A Doppler would probably be a better use of money. You could check the heart rate regularly.

Why are you on bed rest?

Ultrasounds are not something to take lightly.     There are other ways to monitor most health concerns and sonography can be done rarely.

This is higher risk and a fetoscope has no risk, for the same purpose.

The problem with a doppler is with twins, the nurse even has problems trying to decide if she found both babies or just one.

What are you trying to monitor exactly?

I've been having ultrasounds since the first appt. I've gotten ultrasounds every appt now. I've had about 6 now. I'm on bed rest for bleeding. I'm one of those people that hates going to the dr unless I KNOW I need to. So if I had something to check on the babies occassionally I think I'd feel a little better.
