I'm terrified of gaining weight with this sweet baby!

Two years ago I found out I was pregnant with my first baby! Excited was everywhere. I was also 20, and about 50 pounds lighter than I am today. I gained about 40 pounds through my first pregnancy, enjoying all those pickles and soda thinking, "25 pounds is the baby. I can lose the other no sweat." WRONG. My sweet little DD popped out and the only thing I lost was my bump. Still 40 pounds over weight. Almost a year and half since her birth and I am now 50 pounds overweight...and 8 weeks pregnant with Number 2. While I am thrilled to be pregnant...I am absolutely terrified. This is NOT where I thought I would be. I thought I'd lose 25 pounds, breasfeed, lose the other 15. Negative. I am terrified of gaining weight with this baby and terrified that I won't be able to eat healthy enough to at least maintain this weight for my baby and me. I honestly thought, since having such a BREEZE of a pregnancy the first time around, that this time would be nothing but throwing up and agony. It's not. Hardly any morning sickness. Just glowing...and hunger. I understand the concepts of eating healthy...but I'm horrified that I won't be able to implement them and keep this weight down. I'm not asking to lose weight, though it would be more than welcomed along the right circumstances, I just want some feedback on how to get enjoy my pregnancy instead of staying on the verge of a breakdown everytime I think about how huge I am and how big its going to get. Can't I maintain this weight? Does anyone have an suggestions? Words of wisdom? A big slap in the face for getting pregnant before getting healthy again?

I am currently 232 pounds. Which is what I weighed in at a couple weeks before I realized I was pregnant. My scale now reads about 236 in the mornings but I am extremely bloated most of the day. (See me making up excuses already? lol) Please help me!

Well one thing that has kept my weight gain to a minimum is following the gestational diabetes eating plan.  Its really not a diet at all but rather a healthy way of eating that all of us should be doing anyhow.  I eat three meals a day and take a walk after each one...15 to 20 min max.  I also eat three small snacks...one about two hours after breakfast, two hours after lunch and a bedtime one.  When I started on it I  lost 5 lbs in one week even though I was eating more food than I ever had and I haven't put on any new weight.  You can go online and find a eating plan...one thing that sucked though is that I cant have any type of drinks that contain sugar, so its all sugar free crystal light and it took getting used to buts its working and I have more energy too!  Good luck on whatever you try!

Have u considered going to see a dietition or nutrtiionalist for suggestions and support.
Also i think u do need to gain some weight just not alot.
Another thought is make a food journal and write down everything u eat.
Good luck. Hugs

Oh yes, I've heard about that eating plan!! I see so many different meal plans online though, that I'm not sure which one to believe! Can you tell me what types of things you eat during the day?

After the new year I switched to JUST water and loved it. Then a week before I got a positive test I was CRAVING Pepsi. ...and I hate Pepsi. Lol. So how I have gotten rid of the few small Pepsi's I bought and gone back to making sure to drink the recommended amount of water. However, I need to get my eating habits in tip top shape!

I had my 16 week appt this week and was horrified to see that I have gained 4 lbs so far.  I hate the thought of gaining too much and not being able to get it off.  It is harder for me because I got pregnant with this baby (3rd) when my daughter was only 4 1/2 months old and she was my second csection.   I eat crap and I know it and I just can't stop.  I am going to try and work out.

I saw one OB who hardly said anything about my weight being too high. I had a consultation with this doctor with my first baby and he gave me Hell about gaining 25 pounds with her. I didn't actually choose him for my doctor. So with this baby I have him another shot. ...he didn't  say a WORD about my weight, like I was hoping he would. So March 1st I am seeing a female doctor in the hopes that she's a bit more aggressive about my weight and more helpful. I am using MyfitnessPal to record what I eat, but I still want the motivation to eat good and see some kind of result from it.

I feel your pain. I live with two boys who eat anything they want and stay skinny. I can LOOK at their food and gain weight. Haha. I have a fridge loaded full of fruits and veggies, but I'm so exhausted I never feel like making healthy meals. I just grab something...which is never healthy.

The funny thing is though, that my OB is worried that I am too small, she even referred me to a dietician.  They say they want me to gain 28-40 lbs.  I flat out said no freaking way, I would fall over.

Well, I'll tell you what I ate today so far as an example.  Breakfast was half a cup of cottage cheese, half a cup of strawberries and rasberries, and one piece of toast with a glass of crystal light.  Snack was a ham and turkey lunchmeat with carrot sticks and a glass of lowfat milk.   Lunch was a tuna sandwhich with a salad and a glass of lowfat milk.  I'm now eating a snack of a string cheese with a tangerine and a glass of water.  Dinner will be grilled chicken breast, steamed asparagas, and a quarter cup of macaroni salad with a glass of crystal light.  I don't deprive my self of yummy stuff  or else I'd go nuts so I will probably have a small piece of pineapple upside down cake with a glass of lowfat milk for my bedtime snack.  You're supposed to load your plate with half vegetable, a quarter protein, and a quarter starch.  Watch out for potatoes, corn, ketchup and fruit juices cause they are full of sugar.  Most things that contain less than 8 grams of sugar is good to eat...anything over is a no-no.  I hope this helps!
